Do You Wear Matching Bras and Panties?
I have one of those mothers who always buys three panties for every bra she owns in the same color so that she matches. I don’t know what happened, but I didn’t get the "matching" gene. It never occurs to me to match – rather I consider what I am wearing on the top and bottom of my outfit and select the item that will work best underneath.
So, are you a matcher? Don’t be worried if you’re not. Speaking with many vendors over the years, the percentage of matching women out there is rather low. Most brands put it at about 10%. More upscale brands like Prima Donna put it at about 30%. Walk into any department store when they’re having a sale and you always see that special matching panty discounted.
So, should one match or not match? That is the question. For my Mom, it’s all about feeling great in her lingerie. Knowing you match is a nice little secret with yourself that you have it all together under your clothes. If you find yourself needing to disrobe somewhere such as a locker room or doctor’s office, you look coordinated and together. The downside to matching is that many times, that matching panty doesn’t fit well or isn’t in the style you prefer. One of my favorite bras only gives me the option of a high-rise thong, or monster brief – I wear neither. So, matching lingerie is kind of hard work for shopping and selection.

Now, those of us who don’t match shouldn’t feel bad either. After all, how many times does anyone actually see you in just your underwear? Take off your blouse, and all they see is your bra. Drop your pants and all they see is your panty. If you wear a white blouse and black pants, you have the ability to wear a nude bra and black panties. You can also get dressed more quickly because you are not trying to match up all the variable.

I match when it’s convenient. I don’t stress out if the bra I want to wear doesn’t have any matching panties clean, and I’ll obviously wear a different color bra and panty if I’m wearing a black top and white skirt, for example. But if a matching set is available AND will work with my outfit, I love to do it!

I just wish I could find underclothes that match my skin!
Hi Kayla – Stay tuned! HerRoom has a new and exciting brand coming shortly. Called “Sliminizer – The Color Match System.” This line of lingerie comes in 8 different color tones. They claim it covers every ethnicity. HerRoom plans to have this brand live by the middle to end of June, 2009.

I do macth all the time!!!
I save time and effort arraging all my lingerie by sets so all I have to do is grab and go.
It makes me feel sexy and always ready!

On the subject of “Mix and Match” I do feel it’s important to match when the colors underneath matters. I just don’t feel right wearing say, a dark colored bra with a light shaded top..and the same with skirts and panties, never a dark colored pantie with a light shaded skirt or dress. I’m uncomfortable thinking I’m being looked at, and people can tell. Should i not be able to match I make sure what I wear outside covers my mistakes!!

I love to match! I rarely buy matching sets, but I do look to coordinate colors. It’s not so hard. Most lingerie comes in white, black, brown and various shades of tan. Coordinating my underwear makes me feel beautiful and confident. It makes me stand up straighter. However I may be a bit OCD about this, lol!

Seeing this blog post a bit late, but compelled to comment anyways – yes, my bras and panties must always match! Even though barely anyone sees me undressed, I simply feel more together when wearing sets – especially on days where I’m wearing loungewear and heading to the grocer’s. Every time I buy a bra, I buy two pairs of panties to go with, much like your mother.
I hate going into stores (hello, Kohl’s!) and finding an array of bras in beautiful colors, but no matching panties! Stores that have the panties several aisles over is similarly perturbing: I have to drag an armful of bras over to the undies section just to see if they match – and they usually don’t! This also causes me to stay away from certain brands, which shall remain nameless.
