Spotted: Superbowl Lingerie & Underwear

For those of you not interested in football, there was still plenty of reason to tune into Superbowl action last weekend: commericals and the half time show. This year, both featured products we carry at HerRoom and HisRoom.
I was thrilled to see the very first Calvin Klein ad during the Superbowl – I’ve since seen in cabs and ad boards all over NYC. The commercial introduced Calvin Klein’s new Concept collection – men’s underwear styles that feature 360 degrees of seamless construction. HisRoom offers the 3 underwear styles from this collection. CK claims it’s the most comfortable fit yet. And, the commercial also had high eye-candy appeal for the female demographic.
The guys got a little eye candy of their own during Beyonce’s highly anticipated performance during half time. But of course, I also keyed in on what they were wearing. I spied Beyonce’s back up dancers wearing these Pretty Polly tights. A great company for leg fashion, Pretty Polly is way out in front in terms of new and innovative hosiery. Their Secret Over The Knee Sock Tights gave a great fashion statement to Beyonce and her entourage.

Lingerie Patrol ™ Beyonce's MET Gala Dress

What ever happened to designers creating gowns for women with features that enhance and accentuate? That was definitely not the case for Beyonce's Givenchy dress at the 2012 Met Gala. Not only was the dress unflattering from behind –
sheer, spider web-inspired design – but the base layer or shapewear Beyonce was wearing was all wrong!
Let's start with the back. We all know Beyonce has naturally beautiful curves but this panty-looking rear does her no favors and actually makes her look wider from behind. What's
the point of wearing a fancy ethereal gown when everyone's eyes go straight to your skivies?
The illusion was completely lost! We've all seen fashion like this where the illusion is that you're nude underneath. Well, not in this case. It looks just awful. You can see the nude tone is a few shades lighter than her skin tone, making her skin look washed out and strange under the flashing lights. This I would expect from a dress off the rack but not a custom made couture gown, and not on uber styled people like Beyonce!

London! France! Jake Gyllenhaal’s Underpants!

Boxers or briefs? Well, we all know now; Jake Gyllenhaal is definitely a briefs man. And we know this because of a picture that surfaced recently with him in a very specific and popular pose.
It all started when Kanye West posted a photo of his girlfriend, Amber Rose, in the iconic pose made famous by Grace Jones on the cover of her ‘Island Life’ album. This photo then set off a firestorm of interpreters in all shapes and sizes contorting into the same pose and posting themselves on Twitter.
So, which tightie whities is Jake wearing? According to my men’s buyer, Jake is sporting a pair of Polo Ralph Lauren Stretch Cotton Jersey Briefs PO82. As for those socks that seem to match the carpet… We’re looking the other way.
