My New “Go-To” Bra – Simone Perele Velia Contour Bra 118342
October 02, 2009
Being in the business, you can imagine; my bra drawer runneth over with options. So, I’m always paying attention to what my early-morning, groggy auto-pilot mind plucks repeatedly as the bra-of-the-day. This Simone Perele bra seems to be a frequent winner.
So, why? I think it’s because it has a couple of features that I adore. First, I always like a contour cup without seams. I tend to wear form-fitting clothes, so I never want any bra lines to show. I also like modesty in the cups, and this bra has it. Along the top of the cups there is sheer tulle trim that is both attractive and functional. A personal pet peeve of mine is a top edge of a contour bra that is too thick. When it’s thick, you see a line under t-shirts (regardless of it being a t-shirt bra). So, I’m always on the hunt for a thin edge. Simone Perele does a great job of keeping this edge thin along the top of the cup. And, this added tulle feature is just an additional step that ensures that bra lines are invisible under clothes.
Finally, I like this bra because the contour cups can be crushed without creasing. I travel a bit, so I like to take a bra with a low center front that allows me to twist the center to nest the two cups. This makes for easy packing too. This bra does all of that.
I am now a 34D (gone from a 36C after losing a few pounds) so my size does not have the bump pad like the smaller cup sizes. Therefore, I can’t comment there. But, if you are looking for a great t-shirt bra that disappears under clothing and travels well, this is a bra you should consider.

Are You Wearing Your Panties Too High?
September 16, 2009
I know you may think this sounds like a silly question, but are you? Are you pulling your underpants up too high? I bring this up because I realized that with some of my panty styles, I was.
Here’s a little background. The thong as a mainstream panty option hit about 15 years ago. And, if you remember, the initial trend setters complained it was not comfortable. Further research discovered that these women were putting on the thongs and pulling them up so that the waistband rested high on their hips – this was the problem. Women didn’t realize at the time that the thong was designed to sit lower on the hips. After all, low rise pants were not yet making their debut on the market. Only strippers and showgirls knew that thongs were to rest lower on the hips. Since then, manufacturers either made thongs with longer rises so that women could pull them up to their waist, or put tags on them to let women know they were low-rise.
Okay, so back to my question. I was going through my panty assortment the other day and singling out the panties that I felt were not comfortable to wear. I have all styles in my drawer – boyshorts, thongs, bikinis, briefs–you name it, I have it. When I had finished sorting out the ones I didn’t like, I noticed something; they were all low-rise. So it got me thinking. I grabbed a pair and put it on like I do all my panties and realized I just instinctively pulled them up too high. When getting dressed, I have a bit of a ritual and move from item to item without much thought. All my panties were treated the same, regardless of style.
So, this time, I put on a low-rise bikini, but instead of my normal mindless pull-up, I thought about where it should be placed and I lowered the waistband to rest more on my hips. What an epiphany! This panty was now comfortable. I wore it all day and it felt great. I can’t believe I was doing this.
Here’s the lesson; stop and think about the style of panty you’ve just picked before mindlessly putting it on. If you have some panties you have been avoiding because of comfort, go back and look at them through new glasses. I think you’ll be as surprised as I that many pairs really are comfortable when put on correctly.

Cosabella’s Shapewear “Smooth” in Bamboo
September 10, 2009
Everyone seems to be coming out with a shapewear line. You can’t go to market without seeing what manufacturers have done. Most of it looks the same, but Cosabella has an interesting twist – theirs is made of bamboo fabric.
Cosabella spent a year in research and development before unveiling their new Cosabella Smooth. Made in organic bamboo fabric, the shapewear pieces offer superior breathability and smoothness. The initial collection comprises 7 basic items: both an underwire and softcup camisole, boyshorts, hi-cut bikini, thong, teddy and a high-waist brief.
These pieces by Cosabella are intended for everyday wear, and as such, are considered medium control. This way, you can wear them for 8 hours. Having seen the garments, they really are soft. My only concern is that they feel a little thick. However, if they breath and shape you all day, it’s a great trade-off.
