Berenice Bejo has a starring role in the recent Golden Globe winner and Academy Award-nominated movie "The Artist."  But, what many may not know is that under her flawless gown at the Golden Globes she was wearing a Maidenform strapless bra.

To be more specific, it was the Maidenform Custom Lift Strapless bra style 9455. I think this was a great choice.  This strapless bra has a rather unique feature. Its padding in the bottom of the cups is sized differently for each cup size. So, the amount of padding in an A cup is more than the padding in the B, C, or D cups – the padding decreases as the cup sizes increase.  This unique construction of the strapless bra means it stays up and will not look unnatural on you.

Boxers or briefs?  Well, we all know now;  Jake Gyllenhaal is definitely a briefs man. And we know this because of a picture that surfaced recently with him in a very specific and popular pose.

It all started when Kanye West posted a photo of his girlfriend, Amber Rose, in the iconic pose made famous by Grace Jones on the cover of her  ‘Island Life’ album.  This photo then set off a firestorm of interpreters in all shapes and sizes contorting into the same pose and posting themselves on Twitter.

So, which tightie whities is Jake wearing?  According to my men’s buyer, Jake is sporting a pair of Polo Ralph Lauren Stretch Cotton Jersey Briefs PO82.  As for those socks that seem to match the carpet…  We’re looking the other way.

Do you have one?  Jodie Foster does. Actress/director Jodie Foster confessed to putting on odd colored underwear every time before she gets on a plane. Why?  She didn’t give an answer.  It might have something to do with motherhood and the scary thriller she made back in 2005 where her character boarded a plane with her daughter, only to have her child disappear mid-flight. Or it might be a long-time flying superstition. She is quoted as saying, "I put on underwear with strange colors when I get on a plane."

Well, the answer is "SOMETHING!"  Have you noticed all these sheer dresses showing up on red carpets lately?  How about these cut-out dresses like this one on JLo?

 Is this really all that sexy?  My mind instantly jumps to concern over a seam or piece of fabric accidentally moving and creating a TMI moment.

Here’s another example of what not to wear.  At the Cannes Film Festival Mallika Sherawat arrived at the screening of "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" wearing a sheer black gown and obvious black panties underneath.

The solution is really two-fold.  First, try and resist the look altogether and find something classy to wear.  But, if shock treatment is what you want, at least give everyone’s eyes a tease by wearing shapewear or lingerie in the same color as your skin tone.

She’s young and has a beautiful bust line.  But, she’s been seen out all too often bouncing along without any bra support.  Now rumors about her lack of support are suggesting that her career could be impacted, should her breasts begin to sag.

So, here’s the reality about  breasts and sagging.  Breasts do not have muscles that you can exercise to make them firm and supported.  Rather, breasts are held in place by ligaments called "Cooper’s ligaments."  Gravity, bouncing and walking around without breast support will, over time, cause these ligaments to stretch.  It’s these stretched-out ligaments that cause your breasts to sag.  And, Hollywood does not like their starlets to have anything but perfect-looking breasts in nude scenes – which is the kind of movie opportunities Lindsay is being offered these days.

A perfect case in point is Kate Winslet’s Academy Award winning performance in "The Reader" where she had several nude scenes.  I heard more than one man comment that she had "lost her rack."  Shortly afterwards, Kate announced that she will no longer do nude scenes… I wonder why?

So Lindsay Lohan, get some support!

There have been a couple of articles written this week proclaiming Oprah as the reason that sexy and fashionable plus-sized lingerie is available in the market today.  This is simply nonsense. 

Every plus-size lingerie brand we carry at HerRoom has been around for years prior to Oprah’s ‘Bra Intervention’  programs.  But I will give her credit for bringing an awareness to women that they are probably in the wrong size bra.  However, her deal with Nordstrom stores to promote/push women to get fitted there and proclaiming them as the mecca for lingerie shopping did no one but Nordstrom any favors.

Between her recent big ‘secret,’  these articles of self-promotion and numerous personal interviews as of late, I think we can all figure out that she is simply manipulating the media with her star power in an effort to promote her new network OWN.  But hey, if I had her power, I’d probably be doing the same thing.

She’s on the cover of the latest W Magazine nude.  Then inside, Kim is nude but for silver spray paint all over her body.  She has now left nothing to the imagination; Kim is standing full frontal and showing off her actual breasts.  But then the article claims they’re the cup size of DD.  Well, on that point, I disagree.

Being in the boob business, I deal with this all day.  In my opinion, she’s a larger cup size than she is claiming in this article.  What many may not know is that Kim is actually quite petite.  She stands only 5 ft 2 inches.  Her claim of having a band size of a 32 is therefore quite plausible.   But her cup size is more like a DDD or even a DDDD.  So, why not tell the truth?

Here’s my speculation.  She’s claiming double D’s because it sounds better.  Here’s a woman known for her hour-glass figure, yet even she doesn’t want to admit her true bra size. This is also one of the reasons why women are in the wrong size bras – they don’t like the sound of their real size.  For example a 34G.  It just doesn’t sound sexy.  "Look at those E’s!" Anything more than a DD and it sounds like you have implants or are abnormal.  The funny thing is that no one knows your bra size but you.  And, the right size makes you look thinner and younger.

What a missed opportunity for full-figured women everywhere.  Kim is willing to be photographed naked, yet can’t confess to her true bra size.  It could have done so much to help larger cupped women feel more comfortable about their bra size.  And, it could have gone a long way in educating men that there are cup sizes larger than a Double D… and they’re pretty terrific too.

It was announced recently that Zoe Saldana will be the star of Calvin Klein’s Fall 2010 Global Advertising campaign.  So, who is this Zoe?

 I guess I’m getting old because the name meant nothing to me until I Googled her.  She was the oh-so-blue Neytiri in the movie Avatar, and the new-and-improved Lieutenant Uhura in the 2009 remake of Star Trek.  Oh… now I know her.

Anyway, she will be the model for Calvin Klein’s new Envy collection .

It was announced recently that Jean Paul Gaultier is teaming up with La Perla to design a lingerie line.   Now, the first thing that jumped into my head was funnel-shaped bra cups designed by Gaultier and worn by Madonna during her ‘Like A Virgin’ tour back in the 90′s.

Well, I’m not totally off with this thought.  According to La Perla, the new collection with be comprised of 27 styles, including a Madonna-inspired waist-cinching corset and bra.

La Perla CEO Alain Prost claims the collaboration began a few months ago when they both met. "…we immediately hit if off because we shared a common vision of beauty, style, taste and quality.  So we agreed to try this adventure together and unite our savoir faire."

The new collection is scheduled to hit stores this November, with 2 limited-edition pieces scheduled to be featured in La Perla’s couture show in August.

Since 2003, Gaultier has been the artistic director at Hermes.  He recently revealed that he has given up his position there.

This is an interesting match – Gaultier and La Perla.  I for one can’t wait to see the collection.
