A Loincloth For Women?
April 28, 2009
This took me by surprise. The Japan based Wacoal company has been making and selling loincloths for women since December of last year. Called a fundoshi, it’s basically a rectangle piece of fabric with ties.
Okay, so let’s ask the basic question–why? The answer, according to Tomoka Okamura (Merchandise Director for Wacoals’ Nanafun brand) is that it’s the "ultimate liberation item" for women. After a hard days work, many girls like to be able to come home and relax without having tight or binding panties on.
With over 5,000 being sold so far in Japan, the plan is to roll the fundoshi out to other countries in the Pacific Rim. No plans at this time to bring it to the US.
I agree this is kind of a fun twist on a very old idea. But, I’m surprised the shape hasn’t been a little modernized. For example, I would think an hourglas shape to reduce the fabric bulk between the legs would have been designed into it. One also has to ask how comfortable this really is with the possible gapping at the legs and probably frequent adjustments to maintain modesty. But, in the end, it is something new. Don’t be surprised if you see this showing up as a bathing suit option in a summer coming soon.

Be Tempted by Wacoal’s b.tempt’d… or is it b.tempted or b’tempt.d?
April 01, 2009
I need to start this post off with a bit of a rant. When Wacoal first showed my team and me the new Wacoal b.tempt’d line, I immediately pointed out the name and the spelling of it as being problematic… and it is. No longer can companies come up with cute names with funky punctuation if they want a presence on the Internet. This is because the customer not only has to have visual recognition of the brand, but must now also remember it well enough to enter it in a search box. The name, b.tempt’d, in my opinion is absolutely awful.
Now, that I have this out of the way, I’m going to do a complete 180 and tell you what a great collection b.tempt’d by Wacoal is. It’s fun, flirty, sexy and clever. They have a polka dot fabric in two fun colors – bubble bath pink dots, and naughty naked dots. They have an adorable panty with detachable garters so you can get the look of a garter and a panty all in one. Ruffles show up on several of the pieces such as the Pretty and Witty Ruffle Garter Panty, and I personally love the fun wisp of mesh ruffle on the back of the Sheer Brilliance thong.
Best of all, the price on this b.tempt’d line is lower than standard Wacoal products, so the younger customer can better afford it.
So, except for the terrible name, this new Wacoal line is a home-run in my opinion. Check it out.

Wacoal “The Top Solution” Seamless Contour Bra 85912 – What a Great Idea!
July 31, 2008
I must confess, I’m a big fan of Wacoal products and the company. This Japan-based company just turns out quality product after quality product. They research the market and really work hard to design a style to meet women’s needs. Their latest innovation is The Top Solution Bra style 85912. And it’s a great solution for women who are hollow above their breasts.
What is the issue this bra addresses? Well, I’ll tell you. Any woman who once had beautiful full breasts, then nursed a kid or two, will tell you that her breasts deflated and fell. All the push-up bras on the market can address the sagging breasts, but there is this hollow area above the nipple that never gets full again – even in a push-up bra. This condition is known as diminished top cup. It makes women feel and look old, and prevents a good bra fit. In fact, if you are one of those women who always seems to have shoulder straps falling off your shoulders, this diminished cup top could be a cause – you aren’t filling out the top of your cup and this causes your straps to slip.
So, Wacoal worked to solve this problem. The Top Solution bra has a light, specially sculpted contour pad in the top of the cup. That’s right, in the top of the cup where women may have a hollow. This small pad gives women the feeling and look of full breasts again. Hallelujah!
This Top Solution bra, which comes in sizing from 32G to 38DD, is a testament to Wacoal and their tireless efforts to find great solutions for every woman. So, if you know of any woman with a diminished top cup issue with her breast shape, do her a favor and steer her towards this bra. Believe me, she’ll thank you for it.
